Upcoming Show: “Upcycle Art Challenge” @ Art League of Baytown

I'm ecstatic to announce that my piece “Out of the Woodwork” has been juried into the Art League of Baytown’s third annual Upcycle Art Challenge! The show aims to raise environmental awareness and promote waste reduction by requiring artists to use mainly salvaged, reused, and recycled materials—no more than 20% new materials (except for judicious use of glue, nails, etc. to connect things together). You can learn more about the show and the juror, Ron Gordon, on the ALB’s website, here.

Out of the Woodwork (2023)

Acrylic, papier mâché, and mixed media collage on (thrifted) wood board, with (broken) polystyrene frame
34(ish) x 31 x 4.5 inches

You can learn more about the story and process behind this piece in my post about it on Instagram. (Seriously, it’s a wild ride, go check it out 😉).

Of course, this is but a preview! To truly experience this lovely lady, you should really see her in person. (When I went to go drop her off yesterday with the ALB staff, one person even called her “magnificent”!) Details below!
